MANUKA HONEY Active 10+

Manuka honey comes from New Zealand, from the nectar of the flowers of the Manuka bush. Dr Peter Molan of Waikato University and his team found that Manuka honey contains a high level of additional, non-peroxide, antibacterial components. Although some other types of honey have been reported to have some non-peroxide antibacterial activity, this is at a very low level.

Active Manuka Honey, with the unique, non-peroxide, antibacterial activity, is more effective than other honey against some types of bacteria. For example, Active Manuka Honey is about twice as effective as other honey against Eschericihia coli and Enterococci, common causes of infection in wounds. It is eight times more effective than other honey against Helicobacter pylori, a common cause of peptic ulcers.

Studies have found that Manuka Honey is effective in:

  • Relieving stomach ulcers (destroys the stomach ulcer bacteria Helicobacter Pylori)1

  • Soothing sore throat   (by fighting the bacteria streptococcus pyogenes, the culprit that causes sore throats) 2

  • Relieving cold and flu symptoms

  • wound healing

  • fighting against antibiotic resistant infections – MRSA

  • Constipation

Measuring the activity Level of Manuka Honey

According to research, when choosing Manuka Honey, activity level of 10+ or more is preferred for its healing properties.
